Akanksha Banerji, London: Karan Johar seems to have many avatars - a filmmaker, a TV show host and now it seems even the modelling bug has bitten him!
The Indian version of the French magazine L'officiel, called L'officiel India has Karan Johar on its June cover.
Karan is posing for the autumn-winter look this year. L'officiel India was formally launched in the UK on Wednesday.
The stylish filmmaker is on the cover of fashion magazine along with American model Lee Greene. Looking every bit a model himself at the London launch party for the magazine, Karan confessed to having resisted playing director for this one.
"I am a filmmaker and I hate interference, so I just said that my left profile is better than my right and I don't look good when I smile, rest I will do anything - stand on the roof, anything," says the witty director.
The L'officiel team, on their part, seemed extremely excited with their new coverboy.
Says L'officiel India's, Gaurav Motwane, "As you know, he's an icon in India.
He's the best filmmaker we have and every initiative that he has taken up has been a super success. He's very stylish, very fashionable and we thought that this is a great opportunity to bring him on our cover."
Adds L'officiel France's, Marie Jose Jalou, "When we came to India five years ago, there was no advertising for magazines at all. We thought then that L'Officiel cannot work without advertising, but now everything is so slick."
The Indian version of the magazine will now be available in the UK. The launch party in London was attended by celebrities including London's new found muse- Shilpa Shetty.
