Meet 22-year-old Mehak who wants to make it big as a model. But this electrical engineer first needed someone who could give her a makeover - from plain Jane to a face that can launch a thousand products.
And she found that someone on the Internet.
One look at Rahul Dutta's blog convinced Mehak that he could transform her into a head turner. She took the first flight out of Chicago and walked into Dutta's studio. Flash bulbs fired, lens zoomed in and a model was born.
"I looked through his pictures on his blog and I loved his work. I just had to get my pictures shot by him," she says.
Thanks to his photo-blog, Dutta has hundreds of clients within India and abroad who swear by him.
"Its the only form of advertising I've done for my work. This month alone I've shot portfolios of five people, four from the UK and one from the US," he says.
Rahul's blog gets close to 10,000-12,000 hits daily and anything between five to 10 offers for portfolio and catalogue shoots every 24 hours.
And the cost annual for maintaining the website is just $23 dollars.

So instead of mailing CDs of his work to prospective clients or spending money on advertising, this professional DJ sells his music without shelling out a penny on marketing.
"I've gotten many of my gigs in Europe and the US through my blog and my website. It's a huge help," he says.
The secret formula behind the success of these professionals is their blog.
