New Delhi: It could be about the feel-good factor or that wearing high-heeled shoes makes you look taller, glamorous and sexy but it could also about sprains, splitting pains and much more.
Two-three inches heeled shoes can be worn comfortably or for that matter even block and wedge heels, which cause less harm to your feet than stilettos or pencil heels.
"Wearing high-heeled shoes alters the shape and direction of the arch and in situations where individuals are wearing high-heel shoes there is excessive pressure on the front of the foot and that is really what causes the pain and discomfort." Dr. Ashok says.
Putting too much pressure on the foot can enlarge the nerve between your toes, causing numbness and pain.
Shoes, which have narrow toe boxes, force the toes together, which can aggravate existing problems or cause deformities.
Wearing high-heels too often also affects your back and knees and puts you at a higher risk for arthritis and other joint problems.
We have some tips, which can help you to avoid injury while looking good in those heels:
Be smart on your choice of heel size.
Padded inserts in front of the shoe help reduce pressure on the ball of the foot.
Shoes with straps are preferable than backless slides as they help keep the foot intact on the shoe without gripping it too hard.
So with a little bit of foot care you can stay high on your heels.
