A study published in the journal of nutrition says vegetables can cut the risk of heart disease.
There is no dearth of studies and research promising one unclogged arteries and balanced blood pressure if only one is willing to eat that one miraculous food item. Until recently, milk was considered extremely harmful for the heart.
This belief was reinforced by a 1994 study published in the International Journal of Cardiology in which researchers claimed that in seven countries, heart disease mortality rose as milk supply rose.
But according to a contradictory study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in 2002, drinking milk and eating dairy products could protect overweight adults from heart disease.
Similarly, Soy manufacturers around the world publicised the 2000 study by researchers at the University of Toronto, which showed that Soy protects the heart from disease.
But this year, University of Colorado researches have claimed in the Journal of Clinical Investigation that Soy could, in fact, worsen heart disease.A cup of coffee might get one charged up on groggy mornings, but it is also the source of confusion among the medical fraternity. Two studies, both published this year, make conflicting claims about coffee.
While the study published in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition says coffee may help protect against heart disease, the other study done at University of Toronto insists that coffee drinkers run the risk of heart attack.
Don't decide to make dietary changes solely on the basis of studies. One may never really know what's good for health and what's not.
