If you live in a city like Mumbai, you can only dream of big, spacious interiors and perhaps never be lucky enough to get it. Well, here's your one chance because these 'interiors' are really big and they are also artistic, and they're showing at a gallery!
An upcoming artist has a new series of his works called 'Interiors', which is up for viewing at a Colaba gallery. Abir Karmakar is the new kid on the art block and is from Baroda. This is his first solo show in the city and actually it's not quite a show, it's just a two-day long preview before the exhibition travels to an international gallery in Berlin.
At first sight, it may be difficult to make out whether his works are photographs or paintings, but well they are what you can call photo-realistic paintings. Immense attention has been paid to detailing, colour and lighting. These works ooze intimacy, eroticism and a different shade of sexuality. This young artist is in hot demand at the moment and you should not miss the preview of his work. So, for more information visit www.galeriems.com
The artist has used himself as the protagonist and all you see on the canvas is a split image of him. The preview of this exhibition opens tomorrow at Gallery Mirchandani and Steinruecke in Colaba in Mumbai and will continue all day on Saturday as well. This work and the artist come highly reccomended, so don't miss it!
But, if you do miss it, then you can catch it later at Gallery Heike Curtze in Berlin, starting on September 26.
