Archita Kashyap, Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar's personal life has always been fodder for the gossip mills and usually the star keeps his lips zipped when it comes to talking about it.

But a tabloid headline by a Mumbai newspaper suggesting that there was trouble in the Akshay-Twinkle marriage has the couple seeing red.

The article states that Akshay and Twinkle had a spat over his playboy ways, which led to him moving out of the house and checking into the JW Marriot hotel. Reacting to the article, the peeved couple has sent a legal notice to the paper saying.

Their media statement reads: “We have never reacted to what is written about us because we are happy in our own little world and have never felt the need to prove anything to anyone. But people are taking advantage of our silence to slander us and write things without an iota of truth, which we shall not accept anymore”.

So is this pro-active move Akshay's attempt to clean up his image?

Film glossies were abuzz with stories of the actor's link up with Priyanka Chopra two years ago, which were also said to have rocked his marriage.

In fact, rumour also had it that Akshay and Priyanka actually invested in a flat together!

Akshay's philandering past caught up with him earlier this year when UK tabloids raked up his previous hook-up with Shilpa Shetty.

Now that he's been linked once again to a much younger Riya Sen, it has perhaps prompted the celeb couple to lash out. It will be worth watching though if this move silences tabloids.
