Mumbai: Godrej Consumer Products Ltd has organised a human chain and signature campaign called Nupur Jagruti - a stand against dowry as part of International Women's Day on March 8.

Pheroza Godrej will flag off the human chain at 10 am from the Gateway of India. Known faces such as Poonam Dhillon, Flavia Agnes and Smriti Irani are expected to make their presence felt.

In India, the dowry practice was legally abolished through the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961. However, incidents of dowry are rising at an alarming rate. Dowry deaths have been on the rise since 1995.
