New Delhi: The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) political party in Tamil Nadu has sent a legal notice to actress Khushboo for contempt of court.
Speaking at public function on Monday Khushboo had said that justice was the prerogative of those in power, and the legal system was susceptible.
She said that the judiciary had allowed an unnecessary case against her, and a non-bailable warrant had been issued without proper notice.
The PMK says that the remarks were unwarranted, and is demanding an apology.
A defamation suit had been filed against the actress in 2005 after she said that there was nothing wrong with safe pre-marital sex. Back then, parties and women's groups came down heavily on the actress for what they called as an insult to the Tamil culture and demanded an apology from Khushboo.
A tearful Khushboo had apologised on national television a few weeks ago, but surprisingly failed to appear in court to defend herself.
