How to set the table? Make your guests feel comfortable? Eat a steak? Place your fork and knife after your meal? All these questions and more were answered by Nina Kochhar during her workshop in the Good Homes zone at the GHK Event.

Here are a couple of things she mentioned.
- Seat yourself in the place assigned to you and place your handbag beneath your chair.
- When seated at a formal dinner, always start with the cutlery at the outtermost edge and work your way inwards.
- Make sure to talk to the person on your left and right. During the first course, the first on your left and during the next, the person on your right.
- If it is a buffet dinner and you need to get up to serve yourself, leave your napkin on your seat. And at the end of the meal don't fold your napkin. Just leave it as it is on the table to show it has been used.
- If you happen to drop a fork or spoon on the floor during your meal, don't pick it up. Just ask the waiter to give you another one.
Let me not forget to add this... at the end of the session she asked us a question.
How should you store a wine bottle and why? I was quick to raise my hand and answered. You place a wine bottle horizontally so that the wine in the bottle is in contact with the cork. This way the cork won't shrink and air won't enter the bottle.
And of course, I won a prize!
