Sabyasachi's western line uses muted colours in organic fabrics, surface-treating them in innovative designs. The fabrics ranged from canvas to brocade and included hand stained satin, some vintage Mughal embroidery and hand block printing with vegetable dyed textiles.
The silhouettes were an amalgamation of Indo-west fusion with Bomber jackets worn over traditional kurtas and antique brocade waistcoats were teamed with peasant blouses while long flowing embroidered brocade coats swirled over rustic skirts.
The trousers were fluid at times in lush formal fabric. Strappy lingerie inspired blouses and tunics made versatile separate.
The colours were earthy except for the rebellious red for the hammer and sickle print tee.
A 'fashion' rebellion is what inspired Sabyasachi as symbols of social movements turned blousons and pinafores into military attire and belted granny dresses had masculine detailing.
Accessories included scarves, headbands, turbans, Gandhi caps, berets to set the anti-establishment mood of the collection.
