Even heavyweight male contenders accepted her nomination gracefully. Patil’s husband Dr Devisingh Ramsingh Shekhawat also expressed happiness at the thought of his wife being declared the UPA candidate for President.
"We are full of joy and pleasure. She has been selected for a tough job. For the first time in India a traditional woman, a woman of Indian culture has been selected," said Devisingh Shekhawat.
Devisingh was however upset about the fact that he wasn’t with her to "share her joy and happiness." "I missing her," Devisingh added.
