Mumbai: A 1,000 litres of adulterated milk was seized in Mumbai and three were arrested in connection with the case on Friday.

Police say dirty water was mixed in the milk to meet the increased demand during the festival season.

Food and Drug Administration officials seized the milk in raids at five places in the city. The raids were conducted following a tip-off.

The accused were allegedly mixing water in milk packets of reputed brands and re-sealing the packets.

"This raid has been conducted under the supervision of Shri Dhanrajgeer and crime branch officials. We have seized 1,000 litres of milk, which was adulterated with water. We have filed FIR in Oshiwara station. Action will be taken against these people," says Jt Commissioner, FDA, Suhas Choudhary.
