Mumbai: Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan has flown to Singapore for treatment on his knee, which he damaged filming action shots, a newspaper reported Friday.
Roshan told The Times of India newspaper he had pushed himself too hard for action scenes while filming the hit movies "Krrish" and "Dhoom 2," and tore a ligament in his right knee.
One of India's most popular actors, Roshan played a superhero who glides over water in "Krrish" and a smooth-talking thief in "Dhoom 2."
"I basically succumbed to the notion that we're all heroes and pain doesn't matter," said Roshan, describing how he strapped his knee to complete shots.
"I understand now how foolish I have been." He said it was difficult to follow doctors' advice to rest.
"I have to force myself to rest. It's the hardest thing for me to do," said Roshan. "Resting is against my personality."
Roshan said he would be in Singapore for six weeks for physiotherapy.
He will return in January for the release of his new historical movie "Jodha Akbar" based on a romance between the 16th century Muslim Mughal emperor Akbar, played by Roshan, and a Hindu princess, Jodha Bai, played by Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai.
