Pratibhaa, Chennai: Deepavali means sweets, sweets and more sweets. And for many, it also means an upset stomach at the end of the day. But down south in Tamil Nadu there's a recipe that ensures you can digest anything this festive season.
An age-old concoction of spices and condiments called 'Deepavali marundu' or 'Lehyam' is what you need to digest all the sweets that u had this festive season.
And this is how business administrator Anandi makes the 'Lehyam'. Grind dry Ginger, cardamom, cinnamom, garlic, black pepper, etc and then fry them with some gingelly oil, ghee and honey and some jaggery.
"Deepavali day is a happy day and if you want your next day too to be happy, you have to try the recipe,” she says. Though the Leyham is not sweet, it makes sure that you can indulge your sweet tooth without too much worry.
