Swati Vashishta, Jaipur: First with the Hurley Nayar nuptials and now the Ash-Abhishek wedding, Rajasthani artists seem to be the flavour of the year.
Whether it’s mehndi (henna) or music, Rajasthani culture looks the strongest bet.
Far away from Mumbai in the desert town of Jaisalmer, a group of Manganiyar singers is working on a special repertoire for Bollywood's upcoming shaadi number 1.
Gazi Khan Manganiyar who floored the guests with the desert folk songs at Liz Hurley and Arun Nayyar's wedding in Jodhpur last month, hopes to deliver another rocking performance at the Abhishek-Aishwarya's wedding.
"If they invite us, we will be more than happy to go. We will sing the original Nimbuda and give them our blessings. We will be really happy if they dance to our song," says Manganiyar, singer Gazi Khan.
And while Gazi practices a vintage Rajasthani mehendi number, the mehndi that'll be applied on Aishwarya Rai’s hands will also come with a desert connection - straight from the organic henna fields of the Sojat, known to be auspicious for marital bliss.
Reports have it that 15 kg of henna is all set to be sent for the wedding in Bollywood's first family.
"I am very happy that the order has been placed with us since we produce high-quality henna. We are very honoured," says henna trader Nitin.
Bollywood's wedding number one may be in Mumbai but the desert folk singers and henna traders are ensuring there's a little bit of Rajasthan written all over it.
