London: It is now possible to identify your baby's gender as early as eight weeks of your pregnancy without waiting for the 22nd week scan. It is called the Pink or Blue Test and can be done at home. You will also get the results within a week.
A recent study showed that the foetal DNA is present in the mother's blood by the sixth week of pregnancy and the Pink or Blue test detects male specific DNA from the foetus.
If it is present, then it is a boy else it is a girl.
Once you order the test, a blood spot collection kit will be sent directly to you. A few drops of blood is collected in a special filter paper from a finger prick and the filter paper is sent ot the lab in a prepaid envelope.
