Sundari Venkatraman complains of pain in her lower back after using a tampon. She says, "I tried using a tampon, but I got a severe back ache. The moment I removed the tampon, I feel relieved."
According to Dr. Gandhi, tampons can cause pain, but not in your lower back but in your vagina. The pain can be caused when the tampon has been soaked fully and you forget to change it.
When the tampon is fully soaked, it can exert a pressure on your vagina and cause pain.
Sanitary Pads Are Safe
Uma Iyer feels that tampons don't give her a safe feeling. Uma says, "I don't know why I don't feel comfortable with something inside my body. Tampons.I don't want to take any chances."
Question on Virginity…
For Rachna Iyer, fear of questions on her virginity keep her away from tampons. "In India, virginity of a bride is important. I am not married yet and I am scared that inserting a tampon may harm my hymen", says she.
Tampon users can have a stretched hymen as compared to sanitary pad users. This is because tampons have to be inserted inside your vagina.
At first you may find it difficult to insert it but once you get used to it you may find it comfortable, says Dr Gandhi.
No matter which one you are using, it is very important to change the pad or tampon at regular intervals in order to avoid infections or any other complications.
