- Lighter wall paint is what you need to make your room look cosy. Go with moss green, salmon or baby pink, powder blue or lemon. If you want to play it safe, then go with whites and beiges.
A textured wall can break the visual monotony and add some charm to this intimate space in your home. - Make the most of a four-poster bed with a frilled canopy. You could also have delicate lace sheers that can be tied with satin ribbons to the bedposts.
Deck an ordinary bed by hanging up a mosquito net canopy from the ceiling. Choose petite ones, embellished with flowers and butterflies. - A headboard can work wonders to give your room that lazed out look. Soft leather upholstery or a cushioning at the head of your bed will create that little cocoon for you.
If you want to experiment a little, try a frosted glass sheet behind the bed with tiny up lighters from behind. - Fluff up those pillows. Add on layers of furry or shaggy cushions that will lend a softer feel to your bed. You could try brighter cushions with floral prints too to play up the decor.
- An under sheet, a satin bedspread and fluffy comforter will complete the bedding. Use fabrics with floral prints, butterflies and polka dots; they are in this season. You could also add a bed throw.
- When it comes to lighting, don't overdo it. Opt for more subtle lighting. And don't forget to allow as much natural light in through the windows.
Lampshades in warm colours lend a beautiful glow to the room. You could either have table lamps for the bedside tables or pedestal lamps (about four feet high) next to your bed. - Drapes are an easy way to change the setting in a room. Don't go with very thick drapes. They may give you privacy but they also tend to give the room a gloomy look.
Opt for double curtains instead - a sheer and a slightly thicker one. Tie up the thicker ones with satin ribbon during the day. - Complement the light hues in the room with vibrant accents. Try a painting of the countryside or a garden maybe.
Ceramic or glass vases filled with roses or carnations will give your room that much needed freshness. - There is nothing like placing your feet on a soft woollen rug when you get off your bed. You could place rugs along the sides of your bed as well as at the foot of it.
An old wooden trunk will make a great footstool. You could cover it up with an attractive rug. - Last, but definitely not the least, personalise an area of the room. Bring in a recliner or may be even a massage chair for you to relax before you climb into bed.
A bookshelf or even your guitar would complete that space perfectly.
