First of all you can't ignore your bathroom forever, you need to clean regularly and have a low maintenance bathroom.
Accessories
1. Use plastic toothbrush and soap holders. Ceramic and glass holders can slip, fall and break because of the all the water.
2. Make sure to clean the insides of your toothbrush holder too. Water collects and hosts fungus there. Clean it with an old toothbrush and detergent.
3. If you store your make-up close to the basin- don't. Too much moisture will ruin your make-up. Keep them in a plastic case away from the sink.
4. Your bathroom accessories should be light coloured. That way you can spot dirt easily and wipe clean.
5. The less fancy your accessories are, the less you need to clean them.
6. Your bathroom does not need an ornate mirror frame. Dust and insects will find a great place to live between all the intricate carvings and will make cleaning hell for you.

Fittings
7. If your fittings are steel, make sure that they are stainless steel and not tempered steel that stores like Lifestyle usually sell. Tempered steel rusts, and you don't want to be scrubbing them with rust-free liquids all the time.
8. Use granite instead for other stones like Cuddapa. It costs a little more but it is easier to wipe, clean and maintain.
9. If you have any woodwork in your bathroom, make sure that you use marine ply with laminates so that the wood is protected and easy to clean.

11. If you have a sliding glass dividing the sink from your shelf or products make sure that the sliding glass is fixed on a slight rise, to keep the water out.
12. Use anti-skid tiles to avoid possible broken bone.
