You have just cleared out your closet and the piles of clothes are waiting to be given away. But you just can't bring yourself to give away those pink flannel PJs or even your engagement party saree.
Well, if you are having trouble parting with your clothes may be you could consider putting some of the stuff to use around the house.

- Embroidered kurtas are a great way to give your living room upholstery that festive feel. Here's how you do it. Cut out square shapes from the kurta that would be enough to cover one side of a cushion cover. Carefully hem the edges and them stitch them onto self-coloured cotton cushion covers. You can completely transform the look of them.
- From knitted socks to air fresheners. What is the connection? Simply buy air freshener cakes in different colours and put one into each sock. Then tie up the sock with a pretty satin ribbon and hang them in you cupboard or even your bathroom. They look a lot more attractive than the regular hanging air fresheners you get in the market.
- Worn out satin scarves can be made useful too. Simply use them to tie up those delicate lacy white curtains during the day and let that natural light in.
- Are your towels so frayed that you can't use them anymore? Simply cut them into large rectangles and hem the edges. They will make handy dishtowels around the kitchen.
- Cut up all those old T-shirts into neat squares of about 8 inches by 8 inches each and stitch them up together. Make two large sheets of the attached squares. Then add a sheet of soft sponge between them and stitch up the sides. You will have a lovely patchwork blanket for the little ones.
- Good quality cotton trousers can be made into chic table napkins for even a formal dinner. All you need to do is cut out six equal squares from the pants and hem the edges. Then embroider one corner of each napkin with a little angel, bow, heart or even a diya. Put them each into a separate napkin ring and there you have a set!
- An old embroidered silk saree can be converted into gorgeous curtains for your living room. You could also use the borders of sarees along the sides of ordinary cane mats to jazz them up a little.
