Why don't you try some of these home remedies? They might just work a small miracle for your laundry basket.
1. If you stain your clothes with curry, don't run to the nearest washroom. Instead apply some talcum powder to absorb the stain. You can then easily brush it off.
2. Bleach all your whites once in a while to keep them looking brand new. But don't leave garments with elastic in bleach for too long as they tend to get stretched.
3. In case you spill fruit juice or wine onto your clothes, pour boiling water over the stain to get rid of it.
4. Oh no! Your son just scribbled on his shorts with crayon. Don't worry. Just scrape of as much as possible. Then wash it off with hot water, your regular detergent and just a bit of baking soda.
5. When washing your clothes in the machine, add a little bit of baking soda along with the detergent. It is great for removing light stains that your detergent can't.
6. Get rid of those rust marks on your husband's white shirt with a slice of lemon. Just rub the slice on the stain and watch it slowly disappear.
7. If you are using a stain remover, apply it in a circular motion. You don't want the stain to get into the threads of the fabric.
8. Your little girl's uniform is full of ink blotches. Just soak the stains in milk overnight.
9. Hydrogen peroxide is great for removing blood stains. But remember, if you leave it on for too long it fades the fabric.
10. Clean all that mud off your son's shirt by rubbing half a potato on the stained areas.
11. Apply a dash of lemon juice and sprinkle some salt on a tea stain. Then dry out the fabric in the sun.
12. Here's one for those stains that have been left unattended for a long time. Just soak them in warm water and a cupful of white wine.
13. Did you know that white bread is a great stain remover? Yes, at least for removing lipstick stains from wool it is. Simply rub the fabric with the bread and voila!
14. Brushing your teeth in your favourite pink PJs? O-oh! You've got toothpaste on them. Just mix a little ammonia in a cup of water and dab the mixture on the stain.
