Keeping Your Kitchen Safe

Your kitchen can turn out to be a dangerous place with all the sharp instruments, fragile glasses, risk of a fire and an electrical shock.
You also have to be twice as cautious when your little baby becomes curious about every little thing in the house.
Here are some simple ways by which you can make your kitchen safe for yourself and your family.

Ring the Alarm
You may not realise how unsafe your kitchen is in terms of breaking out into a fire. Here are simple tips to ensure that the fire does not get out of hand.
- Switch off the gas from the main switch before you go off to sleep and when you are going out.
- Do not keep curtains in your kitchen. Things like curtains are the first to catch and spread fire during a breakout.
- There should be enough ventilation in the kitchen. Gas trapped in to the kitchen is very dangerous, at least with proper ventilation, you have fresh air coming in.
- Make sure that there is no grease or oil left on the gas. Every time you use oil or greasy substances, clean the surface of the gas thoroughly. By doing this you are saving yourself from mishaps like fire spreading when you light up a match.
- To stop oil from spilling around, you can put it in a plastic bottle with a small protruding opening instead of a vessel.
- Keep your gas next to your wash basin. In case of an unexpected fire breakout, you can quickly splash some water on it.
