- Finished drinking your cup of tea? Do not throw away those teabags yet. The tannin in tea has a healing property. Place it on your eye as an eye pad. The tannin will soothe your eyes and also help remove those dark circles.
- Rose water is great a coolant. So the next time your eyes feel tired and droopy, soak a small piece of cotton in rose water and place it on your eyelids for about 15 minutes.
- While slicing cucumbers for salad, keep a couple of pieces aside and place them in the refrigerator. When you are relaxing, place these slices on your eyelids until the cucumber becomes warm.
Palming
- Sit relaxed in a chair and do some deep breathing.
- Close your eyes and place your palms over your eyelids. Keep it in this position for 10-12 minutes.
The warmth of your palms soothes the nerves around your eyes and helps it to relax.
Pupil Exercises
Keep your neck and backbone straight and rotate your eyes in clockwise and anti-clockwise direction at least 5-6 times. This improves the blood circulation and relaxes your eye.
Yoga for Eyes
These exercises can help to strengthen the eye muscles and ease eyestrain.
1. Sit comfortable with your back and neck straight. Focus your gaze on the tip of your nose without blinking. Hold your gaze for as long as you can. Then close your eyes and relax.
2. Focus on the area between the eyebrows just above the nose. Hold your gaze as long as you can, then close your eyes and relax.
3. Keep your head straight and try to focus both your eyes on the left shoulder. Concentrate for as long as you can. Repeat this with your right shoulder.
These aren't full proof remedies, nor do they prevent eyestrain. But following them regularly can help your de-stress and relieve eyestrain.
